Covid19 Updates Sri Lanka was tremendously under control of the Covid 19 pandemic until the Sinhalese and Tamils New year in April 2021. With these new clusters Sri Lanka had to lock-down the country again and still under travel restrictions. Recently re-opened the ports for returning Sri Lankans and gradually getting the citizens’ lives back to normal. Still, more than 2,000 cases are found and averagely 50 person dies daily with the virus.

Sri Lankan housing market is experiencing an extraordinary boom. House prices surged 17% nationwide during 2018 (16.3% inflation-adjusted) to an average of LKR 34.03 million (US$ 194,670) Land prices are also rising. In Sri Lanka, the average price of a residential lot was up 15.3% y-o-y in 2018, to LKR 1.36 million (US$7,780) per perch (1 perch is equal to 16.5 feet). Likewise, land prices in Colombo also increased 5.5% y-o-y to LKR 11.56 million (US$66,130) over the same period.
